Warwick Patchwork & Quilting 1st Birthday {bed cake}

When my friend Lana asked me to make a cake for her patchwork group {to present to the owner Kate in celebration of one year of ownership} I immediately knew what I was going to make...a bed topped with a quilt, bunting and of course a cupcake!

I have been experimenting with new designs for my edible cupcake toppers {which I will have available for sale soon} and this little cupcake on a plate is one of them... and one of my favourites!

I used a texture mat to get the woodgrain pattern in the headboard {which is made of chocolate fondant}, a small cookie cutter to cut the heart out, divine twine for the fabric bunting {this is the only non edible part of the cake} and a patterned rolling pin to get the design on the quilt, I have been dreaming up many other bed cake designs today...

Congratulations Kate!  If you would like to see more go to my facebook page.

Thanks Lana, I hope you enjoyed it.

'Good Catch' Wedding Cake

This wedding cake was designed by the bride herself, she supplied me with the bride and 'fishing' groom cake toppers and the artificial flowers which I cut and re-wired to suit the design of the cake for her.

I piped on the lacey leaf pattern around the cakes with royal icing, and I must say it was very good to ice a cake without battling the rain for once! {which turns the icing quite sticky and makes it difficult to work with}

Inside is two tiers of decadent chocolate mud cake and the top tier rich fruit cake, yum!
Delivered to the Douglas Feez Pavillion in Warwick {which was beautifully decorated in red and white} on a very hot and sunny Saturday...perfect wedding weather!

Thank you Jess for the lovely phone call today, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Have a great honeymoon ;)
